PERSONAL GROWTH THINK TANK

WARNING! IF YOU ARE A DABBLER, BARGAIN                            HUNTER, OR WEB SURFER

                                DO NOT READ

                                ANY FURTHER

During my high school days I played a pretty good roundball. The coaches asked me to sign up for the varsity team. While signed my schedule, the head coach gravely asked, "Do you really want to play?"  I heard myself sort of subconsciously answer, "Yyyy...yes sir." The coach calmly replied, "Go back to class. Stay there. I don't want to see you again until you passionately desire to live, eat, and sleep basketball." How did he know? How could he tell? He new that lack of total commitment wasted his and my time both. Plus, enddangeredthe other team members-demoralized them if the had to put up with a slacker.

Therefore, I'm issuing the same challenge to you as the one my coach issued back in the 70s. Personal growth is no bargain hunting game. You can't buy it, and you can't wish for it to happen. It's far too valuable to put a tag on it. Oh yes, I used to do some of these think tanks for free, but never more. Money, however, in this society symbolizes a value beneath it. You must give up something of lesser value to gain something of greater value. Jesus once explained, "The first shall be last and the last first." How can you really place a bargain on your growth?  Do you place a bargain on your kids when they need a doctor? Would you place a bargain on your hard earned intellectual material? How about a work of art? Yet, when it comes to personal growth I deal with dabblers all the time.

I want to seriously challenge you to stop any dabbling and invest in yourself. Jump off that cliff. YOU ARE WORTH IT. Your full potential depends on it.

HOW DO I DEVELOP MY FULL POTENTIAL?

  • Increase your own experience and confidence

  • Sharpen your business and personal skills

  • Add an instant and valuable support network

  • Get honest feedback, advice and brainstorming

  • Borrow on the experience and skills of the other members

  • Study Leadership, Communications and Growth principles/practices in a group setting, create an action plan and have the group hold you accountable for fulfilling your plan and goals.

  • Receive critical insights into yourself

  • Optimistic peer support in maintaining a positive mental attitude

  • A sense of shared endeavor – there are others out there!

Few people are aware of their potential. Many fail to even comprehend such an idea. Yet, they feel it. A person who fails to develop their full potential lives an empty existence filled with regrets. As they age they look back on their life exclaiming in the words of Marlon Brando, “I could have been a contender! I could have been somebody!”  ( from the movie On The Water Front)

So what does Potential mean and how do you develop it?

The word "Potential" comes from the Latin "Posse" which means "to be able." HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE ABLE TO BECOME ALL YOUR CREATOR WANTS YOU TO BECOME ?

Good news-you can pump out more potential than you ever knew

A THINK TANK BASED ON JOHN MAXWELL'S  15 INVALUABLE LAWS OF GROWTH WILL BLOW THE LID OFF YOUR POTENTIAL

Below are listed some of the "Golden Rules " of growth you will learn from this particular THINK TANK:

A. Continual learning and growing is a part of the process.

B. Look to other leaders as examples – I have.

C. You don’t have to be an expert or even a leader to understand what I’m teaching.

D. There will be trials and errors. The key is not to make the same mistake twice.

E. Your ability to become a better leader depends on how you respond.

F. Effective leaders are always engaged in this paradigm of learning cycle:

1. Learn it

2.  Live it

3.  Lead it

D.  To discover your own purpose and potential, you need to grow in the following areas:

1. Self-awareness

2. Character

3. Skills

4. Relationships

5. Spiritually

E.  To grow, you will have to put these laws into action, not only learn them.
