You Can Never Go It Alone

A Word From Jeffrey Taylor

I'm about to offer you the most powerful success tool you'll ever have at your disposal. How do I know this? I know because I'm human like you. I fail, win, and fail again just like you. I understand the frustration of hollow day to day existence. I have witnessed my dreams and the dreams of others sort of drift away like a floating balloon. I get it when you feel the desperation of stuck. And stuck stinks. I know what it means to pour your all out for your baby (business) and get real frustrated about the lack of progress.

You also suffer from the loneliness of not being able to vocalize your empty predicament. "Go away. I got my own problems, " others may say.  And, why do you want to embarrass yourself anyway with your whining?  At least the uninitiated see it as whining. But, you don't, and neither do fellow growth minded people.

In addition, your tribe is mediocre at best. The folks you hang around have little ambition. Oh, they want $$$ all right. Still, they don't know where to start. I once talked to a CEO of a sound financial organization. I asked him about his dream and what were the three things standing in the way of his dream. His emphatic and conceited reply was, " To make money. The three things standing in the way are lack of money, lack of more money, and lack of money period. Now, good day!"  That man will remain stuck forever. He failed to understand that his thinking and personal growth greatly affect his business outcomes. In fact, he falls into the pit where 90% of all people wind up. At the bottom of that infinitely dark hole lies insignificance and repeated failure without knowing why. The whole baffling experience may lead him to skeptically ask, "Is this all there is?" Why would you want to hang around an bag of bones like that?

You indeed embody a different spirit. A gnawing gut feeling sets you grasping for a better class of people-the thinking people; those reaching for a higher level.

                                                                                    The Mastermind Group

This is where the Mastermind comes into play. For a century or more, highly successful people have been a part of a Mastermind group. Napoleon Hill said this about the Mastermind:

Coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose.

Through this metaphor it becomes immediately obvious that the Master Mind principle holds the secret of the power wielded by men who surround themselves with other men of brains...Analyze the record of any man who has accumulated a great fortune, and many of those who have accumulated modest fortunes, and you will find that they have either consciously, or unconsciously employed the 'Master Mind' principle.  (Hill wrote this long before we began to use inclusive language.)

You may recognize some names on the list:

Henry Ford

Andrew Carnegie

Jesus (12 men)

John Wesley (religious reformer-the Methodist had its origins in Wesley's highly organized small groups)

American forefathers (Constitutional Convention)

Presidents (their cabinet)

Let me offer you a brief description of the MM:

A Master Mind Group is an interrelational leadership training group

There is a synergy of energy, commitment, and excitement that participants bring to a mastermind group. My facilitated groups offer a combination of masterminding, peer brainstorming, education, accountability and support in a group setting to sharpen your business and personal skills. By bringing fresh ideas and a different perspective, my masterminds can help you achieve success.

Key Benefits of a Mastermind Group:

  • Increase your own experience and confidence

  • Sharpen your business and personal skills

  • Add an instant and valuable support network

  • Get honest feedback, advice, and brainstorming

  • Borrow on the experience and skills of the other members

  • Study Leadership, Communications and Growth principles/practices in a group setting, create an action plan and have the group hold you accountable for fulfilling your plan and goals.

  • Receive critical insights into yourself

  • Optimistic peer support in maintaining a positive mental attitude

  • A sense of shared endeavor – there are others out there!

                                    Mastermind Case Study-Apollo 13

Some of you remember the movie Apollo 13. This powerful historical piece captured on the big screen, one of our finest hours as Americans. I'm old enough to remember the actual event. (I was in the 9th grade at the time)

Apollo 13 was the seventh manned mission in the Apollo space program and the third intended to land on the Moon. The craft was launched on April 11, 1970. The spacecraft never reached its destination. An explosion in an oxygen tank crippled the capsule and left the three crew member's live's hanging in the balance in space. Needless to say, mission control did the impossible, and figured out a way to bring those men home safely.

Back in those days their computers didn't even possess as much mind power as today's iPhone. So how in the world, against impossible odds, did Houston get these guys down. They did it the old-fashioned  way... they used the Mastermind strategy. Oh, they didn't call it that. They probably didn't even know what 'mastermind" meant. But, they used its principles. They got everyone at the command center with a brain to work and plug in their 2 cents so they could bring the astronauts home safely.

Below is a scene from the movie, directed by Ron Howard, that reenacts the team's ingenious work.

Following the trailer, ask yourself, "Would my dream benefit from the aid of a Mastermind?"
